IT'S MADNESS BABY!!!

March Madness officially descended upon us this week, that goes not only for basketball but also for reenacting. We start the year with our first sizeable event of the year at Endview.

I recently asked seasoned Sportscaster Dick Vitale his views on the upcoming reenactment season and how reenacting could be better than college basketball. Whattaya say Dicky V?

"It's all blues and grays BABY! 1861 all over again with the Confederacy showing up as the new Diaper Dandy on the block. Freshman floor generals like Lee, Jackson and Johnston will round out my All Avis team.

On the defense in blue I see the All Potential Team as Mc Dowell, Burnsides and Mc Clellan. Watch Mc Clellan to be my All-mystique player. It's gonna be Doughnut Offense for the boys in Blue I am afraid and it could be Dipsy Doo Dunk A Roo on Washington City.

Bringing a W isn't going to be easy for either of these teams. Both sides will be Drillin' Reggies when they need Pete Roses. They will need to bear down and dish the rock to the Isolation Man to get the big W for the fans at home."

Vitale may not translate well at your next living history but his enthusiasm for the young Confederacy is to be commended. If you need the Vitalism's translated go to http://espn.go.com/dickvitale/vspeak/index.html

Remember that we often use our hobby to "escape" the hustle and flow of our daily lives and the world around us. Just take these thoughts with you this weekend as you head to Endview...while there was a North Carolina in 1861, there was no Duke.
